Variable Data
This is a big advantage digital printing has over litho. The image on a lithographic printing plate is static – every printed image is the same. A digital press electronically recreates the print image every time a sheet of paper passes through, so technically speaking there is no reason why that image should be identical every time!
With a bit of clever front-end programming it is possible to alter a part, or multiple parts, of the print image so that each sheet has a unique element. This is called variable data printing.
This makes digital printing incredibly useful for the personalisation of mailshots. Combining a print file with a database (such as an Excel file) we can produce something as simple address envelopes or as complex as a brochure with tailored images on every print.
We have used variable data to produce sheets of barcode labels, numbered event tickets, named place cards for weddings and a huge array of other interesting things. If you are producing a mailshot, don’t just talk to us about the brochure – remember we can also handle the addressing, packing and even mailing (worldwide).
Do not worry if this all sounds a bit complicated, we have the experience to make it not so! Our aim is to save you time and impress the recipient of your printed material.
