duplicate invoice sets and pads
This topic covers everything on Carbonless Copy paper from delivery notes to restaurant order pads to continuous invoices.
Carbonless paper works from the interaction of special coatings on the front and back of the sheets reacting to pressure applied by writing or impact typing on the top sheet.
A complete "set" consists of a Top Sheet (with coating on the back), a Middle Sheet (with coating front and back) and a Bottom Sheet (with coating on the front). The middle sheet would not of course be required for a set with only one duplicate.
For the NCR to work, each of these sheets needs to be in the right order and the correct way up.
We can print any of your self-duplicating requirements on any size, with any number of copies* and finish them with a sequential number if required in one of three ways:
Sets - Glued so that each item with it's copies is a seperate set. This is useful for using in a typewriter (remember them?!) or in any situation where a bulky pad is not suitable (ie for Contracts or Delivery Notes)
Pads - Glued together in pads (usually of 50 sets but it can be any number) with a top manilla sheet and a bottom greyboard. The top manilla sheet is then used to slide between each set to prevent the item you are completing duplicating throughout the book! With this method, all sheets are removed from the pad as they are used.
Books - Almost the same as pads except with the addition of a 'stub'. Some or all of the NCR pages are then perforated to be torn out. The stub is stitched (industrial stapled) as well as glued and tape-bound for extra rigidity. It is usual that the bottom copy is not perforated to remain in the book for filing. All sheets can be perforated, however, if you need to use the book in the same manner as a pad but need the extra durability of the stub.
Continuous - This is for sprocket fed printers and come on a continuous length of ncr, crimped in their sets, with sprocket holes left and right and a perforation between each item. Although we use a trade house to do the actual printing, we have many repeat clients who use us for Continuous and have many years experience in producing artwork and overcoming any difficulties associated with this method.
Single Sheets - Many people are now using a lazer printer to produce invoices and their duplicates. This is effectively the same as a letterhead and we would price it accordingly. This method can of course be on any lazer compatible paper and match existing stationery accordingly.
* bear in mind that there will be a physical limit to the number of copies as more pressure will need to be applied on a thicker set to get an image on the bottom sheets. We can always supply you a few sheets as a mock up to see how strong you are!
